Before buying

Two things
to know.

01Use their age on 1 January

Licence groups and class eligibility use the rider's age on 1 January 2027—not their age today or on the event date.

02Racing more than one class?

You only need one licence for the higher class—not a separate licence for every bike. A rider racing both 50 Auto and E3 only needs the Auto licence.

If you are unsure which is the higher category, check with Hill Side MX or NORA before buying.

Electric rider groups

Choose by bike
and age.

Ages are taken on 1 January of the licence year. The bike must also meet the class regulations.

Three-year-old riders in Electric MX classes must be assessed and signed off by the Clerk of the Course before riding.

youth class.

PW50 ridersSelect the dedicated NORA PW50 licence category

PW50 has its own licence selection on the NORA application and should not be entered under the general Auto category.

For 50cc, 65cc and 85cc riders, select the appropriate NORA youth motocross class for the rider's age and machine when completing the licence application.

If you are unsure, use our Rider Guide first or contact Hill Side MX before purchasing the licence.

05

Before you apply

Four quick
checks.

01

Use the rider's age

Check their age on 1 January 2027—not their age on the event date.

02

Match the exact bike

Confirm wheel size, rated power and class before selecting a licence group.

03

Choose Hill Side MX

Select Hill Side MX as the rider's main club during the NORA application.

04

Prepare their details

New under-18 applications require a clear photograph and proof of age.

Please note

NORA licence categories, prices and regulations can change. This page is a practical guide; the current NORA application and regulations remain the final authority. All annual licences expire on 31 December. Riders competing in more than one class normally need only one licence for the higher class.
